Ducks

 
 

Ducks fit well into our ecosystem because they are incredible foragers with great personalities, not to mention delicious meat and incredible fat.

Like all of our poultry, we began by raising flocks of heritage breed ducks including Saxony, Silver and White Appleyard, and Rouen, but with mixed success. Our goal was to have all of the pieces: heritage breed, relatively calm demeanor, and delicious flavor.

We have since let go of raising heritage ducks and now raise a Pekin cross. While the reasonings behind this would warrant an essay, factors included access to processors, trickiness of waterfowl feathers, and demand for larger breast meat.

We are very happy with the Pekin ducks we raise and know you will be too!
